Tribes in Kenya whose men rule the mpango wa Kando industry

– A study conducted by research firm IPSOS has it  that 79% of women in Kenya have been or are currently someone’s mpango wa kando.
– Majority of the ladies said they dated married men for financial stability
– Luo and Kikuyu married men topped the list of cheaters with Kisii men coming last
– Interestingly, 87% of mpango wa kandos are not willing to marry the men they are currently dating
For starters, the popular joke among the Luo community is that Luo is not a tribe but a lifestyle. This is obviously drawn from the famous belief that majority of Luos love flamboyance and high life.
A research by research firm IPSOS revealed that 30% of married luo men have a side dish, popularly known as mpango wa kando.

The research was conducted on ladies in March 2015 and majority of them said their ‘sponsors’ are from the luo community closely followed by married men from the Kikuyu community at 17%.
The ‘sponsees’ (ladies who date married men for financial stability) further said they prefer men who drive a Mercedes Benz followed by married men who drive BMW then Subarus.
Well its quite a coincidence considering many Luo men ride in cars made in Germany and in this case Mercedes and BMWs among other high end cars.

According to the study, ‘sponsees’ are more comfortable dating married men because they are more responsible compared to their bachelor and/or unmarried colleagues.
Men who have been in marriage for five or more years are the most likely to seek an alternative partner or rather mpango wa kando, according to the research commissioned by The Nairobian.

Doctors lead the pack of cheating spouses, followed by civil servants then businessmen and finally lawyers in that order.
Married men from the Kamba community come in at number three at 14% with Luhya’s coming in at number four in terms of their propensity to enjoy the services of mpango wa kando.
With majority of women polled saying they date married men for financial security, it is surprising that men who drive Range Rovers are least appealing as ‘sponsors’.

According to the study, female mpango wa kando’s in fact prefer married men who drive Nissans far much more than their counterparts in  Range Rovers who are apparently more likely to be wealthier.
Cheating in marriage is almost becoming a social norm in the country and its not unusual to find a lady who confidently dates someone’s husband

In fact, in the study, 85% of those polled said they know of lady who is dating a married man, underlining the extend of the practice  in the country.
Cases of domestic violence that has in some situations ended up fatal as a result of cheating in marrigaes ahave been on rise in the country.
