Gospel singer Gloria Muliro has for the first time opened up about her ex-husband, Pastor Eric Omba, two years since the two parted ways in acrimonious circumstances.
For a long time Gloria has been quiet about the whole saga despite numerous efforts on social media by Omba to ask for forgiveness from the sensational singer and a possible re-union.
We have all been wondering why the Mpango wa Kando singer is not responding to Omba directly or give an interview to reveal what has been going through her mind.
But finally, Gloria accepted to give Tuko.co.ke an exclusive video interview where she really opened up about what has been going through her mind since she parted ways with the man of cloth, why she has always kept mum about the whole saga and how life has been considering she is a celebrity everyone is fond of.
So we meet in one of the posh hotels in the posh Hurlingham area, Nairobi, precisely at the roof top. The environment is serene and quite conducive for an interview.
As our crew sets up the cameras and the lighting for the interview, Gloria is so full of life, affording her signature smile and jokingly teasing us how we are always into other people’s business.
But we tell her she is a public figure and people would want to know how things have been. No objection. She nods in agreement.
Our crew is all ready. Camera, check. Lighting, check. Microphones, check. We are good to go.
Gloria tells us how she has been at peace ever since she left her marriage, how she has been criticized by those who really didn’t know what she went through for the five years she married Omba and the secret behind her strength which has seen her release hit songs like Ndio Yako.
“This is a new year, 2016. 2015 is gone. But I chose not to talk about, that is my decision,” she says.
We ask her why she has not responded to Omba’s apologies all along.
“By the way I have no problem with anyone. I pray every day, and God tells us to forgive if we want to be forgiven. So I have no enemies, none. For a Christian, forgiveness is a command, it is not an option,” she adds.
Then we prod her further with this question: Eric wants you back as his wife, are you ready for him?
“If you need a wife, you will go for her. You don’t send someone to go look for a wife for you. You don’t go to social media to look for the wife there,” Gloria cuts us short.
She implies that Omba has not made any effort since they separated to look for her in person to settle the issue.
“Social media will not give you a wife. No. Did you look for the wife on social media from the beginning?” She asks.
So how has life been considering you had early said Eric confiscated almost everything you had worked for in your music?
